Studium Generale: Securing Borders From Security Threats
FISIP Online, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences is holding a general studium which will be held on Wednesday, September 15 2021 at 10.00 – 12.30 WIB. This event uses the Zoom application to meet face to face online. This is because it is to prevent the spread of the corona virus. The theme of this event is "Securing Borders from Security Threats".
This time, Studium General invited speakers, namely, Dr. Elyta, M.Si (Lecturer in International Relations, Tanjungpura University), moderated by Dr. Faisal Nurdin, M.Si (Head of International Relations Study Program) apart from that, a welcome and introduction to the general studium from the Dean of FISIP UIN Jakarta, namely Prof. Dr. Ali Munhanif, MA. In his speech he said that students and researchers were asked to observe changes in security threats in developing countries.
The event continued with a presentation by Elyta who said that traditional security is a country's ability to protect the country from military attacks originating from the external environment. "Security is no longer synonymous with military issues but also non-military issues, such as poverty, human rights, food availability, gender issues, etc.," said Elyta. The end of the cold war and the strengthening of various non-military issues, the meaning of security has changed to human security.
After the resource person gave his presentation, a question and answer session was opened for the resource person by students. Students were very active in asking questions to resource persons and were enthusiastic from the start of participating in this general studium.
