Inauguration of Professor Prof. Ali Munhanif, MA
FISIP Online, Inauguration of Professors was held by UIN Jakarta on January 6 2021 at the Harun Nasution Auditorium. At the inauguration of Professors this time two people were confirmed, namely Prof. Dr. Ali Munhanif, MA as Professor of Political Science at FISIP UIN Jakarta and Prof. Dr. Amelia Fauzia, S.Ag, MA. as Professor in the Field of Indonesian Islamic History, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Jakarta.
Ali Munhanif was born in a sub-district town, Kunduran, Blora Regency, on December 12 1965. Ali grew up in a santri community inherited from his father, who until the end of his life left a madrasa educational institution in that city. Meanwhile, her mother, Sri Wartini, is an elementary school teacher who was forced to become a full-time housewife because several years after getting married, she preferred to educate her children.
He completed his undergraduate education at UIN Jakarta in 1990. It was from UIN Ciputat, which was "only a window", that Ali became acquainted with the world of international education. On a scholarship from the Fulbright Scholarship USA, Ali continued his postgraduate studies at Temple University, Philadelphia, USA, and obtained an MA in Islamic Studies and Comparative Religion (1996). Not long after the Reformation, and also after the 2021 terrorist attack in New York, Ali left for Canada to pursue his doctoral education at the Department of Political Science, McGill University, Canada, on a CIDA scholarship, Canadian International Development Agency. After passing obstacle after obstacle in the cold city of Montreal Canda, Ali completed his PhD in 2009.
After returning from McGill, Ali was trusted to lead the department at FISIP, a year-old department at UIN Jakarta: Head of the Political Science Study Program. (2011-2015). In the same period, he also served as Director of the Center for Islamic and Community Studies (PPIM), UIN Jakarta (2011-2015). He also served as Director at the Institute for Research and Community Outreach (LP2M), UIN Jakarta (2017-2019). His expertise in politics has made this man, who was a journalist for Editorial Magazine (1989-1992), known as a political analyst in the media: Metro TV , Kompas TV , Berita Satu, and INews TV .
Since 2019, Ali has been trusted to be the Dean of FISIP UIN Jakarta. With his position as a professor in the field of Political Science at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN), Jakarta, Ali realizes that this is only a temporary stage of academic work and activism about efforts that are really needed to respond to new challenges in politics, democracy and religious issues.
