FISIP UIN Jakarta Hosts the National Coordination Meeting of the Indonesian Political Science Association

Chairman of the Indonesian Political Science Students Association (Himapol) Indonesia, Iben Atsil Majid, emphasizes the central role of youth in the nation's progress. Majid sees the involvement of young people as already documented in history. Moreover, with the upcoming elections, young people are hoped to actively participate in this democratic event.

This was expressed by Majid during the Seminar and National Coordination Meeting of Himapol Indonesia at the Bahtiar Effendy Auditorium, FISIP UIN Jakarta, on Tuesday (30/01/2024).

"The contribution of young people today and in the future is already recorded by history. How young friends have contributed significantly to the nation's progress," he said.

He explained that the contribution of young people is highly needed. According to him, the 2024 elections should not divide or cause national disintegration. Instead, elections should be seen as a process of maturation and political education.

He urged that the upcoming elections should not be a trigger for division but rather should proceed peacefully and in a conducive manner.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Political Science Department at UIN Jakarta, Suryani, hoped that the event would become a space for fraternity among political science students across Indonesia.

"This event can be a facilitator and strengthening of the fraternity among political science students across Indonesia so that they can quickly grow and develop in thinking and have a national perspective," she said.

Not only that, but it is hoped that this National Coordination Meeting, followed by a national work meeting, can produce ideal and realistic work programs.

"Hopefully, it will produce ideal and realistic work programs. This is the most important, being realistic so that what is done can be more beneficial to the people," she explained.

As for the participants, there were 43 registered campuses from several regions, with a total of hundreds of students attending the event directly.
