Prof. Bahtiar Effendy Auditorium, FISIP Online – Sociology Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UIN Jakarta held a studium generale (public lecture) with the theme "Youth, Big Data Innovation and Village Development", Monday (09/10/2023) at Prof Bahtiar Effendy Auditorium, campus II UIN Jakarta and attended by hundreds of FISIP UIN Jakarta academics.

Also attending this activity, the Dean of FISIP UIN Jakarta Prof. Dr. Dzuriyatun Toyibah, M.Sc., MA, Deputy Dean for Student Affairs Dr. Agus Nilmada Azmi, M.Si, and Head of Sociology Study Program at UIN Jakarta Dr. Joharatul Jamilah, M.Sc.

The activity was guided by FISIP UIN Jakarta lecturer Dr. Saifudin Asrori, Msi invited the Dean of the Faculty of Human Ecology, IPB University Bogor, Dr. Sofyan Sjaf, SPt, Msi as a resource person.

Dean of FISIP UIN Jakarta Prof. Dr. Dzuriyatun Thoyibah, Msi in his speech said "many things are made easier with the existence of various types of applications. "In the future, sociology students must be able to innovate with big data ," he said.

Apart from that, the Dean also hopes that students who attend the Studium Generale today will gain new knowledge and insights.

Meanwhile, Dr. Sofyan Sjaf, SPt, Msi in his presentation said that development will be successful if it is carried out democratically and starts from the village. However, the current problem is that villages are experiencing data problems caused by lack of data access in compiling and processing village data.

"Generally, village data processing is still done manually, which then has an impact on village development which becomes immeasurable," said Sofyan.

To overcome this, he offered a solution using Precision Village Data. Where this data has a high level of accuracy to provide a picture and actual conditions of the village. This data can also determine the accuracy of village development planning and implementation.

"Data is taken, validated and verified by village communities, and assisted by external parties, for example universities, to jointly organize their communities in building a data ecosystem," he said.

He also added that youth were at the forefront of the data collection process. Youth can be trained to become local data experts who help villages collect, manage and analyze data to improve decision making.

At the end of his presentation, Sofyan conveyed a quote from Muhammad Hatta that Indonesia will not shine because of the torches in Jakarta, but will shine because of candles from the villages.
