“As inflation continues to rise across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), the impact on real incomes and purchasing power remains a major challenge, especially for the most vulnerable and we look at this challenge from the perspective of smaller economies in LAC by analyzing new inflation dynamics -recently for three small economic subgroups: Central America, Panama, and the Dominican Republic (CAPDR); Caribbean; and smaller economies in South America—Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Uruguay,” said Rosset.
In continuation he explained that high inflation is a bigger challenge in smaller economies because they are less diversified, more dependent on imports, and have more limited policy levers.
Before the end of the event, a question and answer session was opened by students for the resource persons. It was seen that students were enthusiastic in asking questions to the resource persons to gain information about the theme of this event.
