Guest Lecture: Understanding Soekarno and Suharto's Social and Political Ideas: Their Importance for Today's Indonesia

FISIP Online,  Faculty of Social and Political Sciences held a guest lecture (guest lecturer) which was held on Wednesday, 22 September 2021 at 10.30 – 12.30 WIB. This event uses the Zoom application to meet face to face online. This is because it is to prevent the spread of the corona virus. The theme of this event is "Understanding Soekarno and Suharto's Social and Political Ideas: Their Importance for Today's Indonesia".

This time the General Studium invited speakers, namely, Prof. Dr. Salim H. Said (Lecturer in Political Science, Defense University). A glimpse of Prof. Dr. Salim H. Said was born in a village called Amparita, an area which during the Dutch East Indies was part of Afdeling Parepare (currently part of Sidenreng Rappang Regency). Salim studied at the Indonesian National Theater Academy (1964-1965), and received a Ph.D. from Ohio State University, Columbus, United States (1985). He often participates in discussions about Indonesian film, history, social and politics at national and international levels. This event was moderated by Zaki Mubarak, M.Si. (Lecturer in Political Science, FISIP, UIN Jakarta)

The event continued with a presentation by Salim who explained the history of the Soekarno and Suharto regime era. "The relationship between Sukarno and Suharto became bad after the events of the 30 September Movement," said Salim. In the continuation, when there is a tense socio-political situation, the atmosphere becomes accusatory and suspicious.

After the resource person gave his presentation, a question and answer session was opened for the resource person by students. Students were very active in asking questions to resource persons and were enthusiastic from the start of participating in this general studium.
