FISIP UIN Jakarta Explores Cooperation with FISIP UNPAD

Bandung, FISIP Online – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) engaged in exploratory discussions with the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Padjajaran (UNPAD) Bandung regarding the development of undergraduate (S1) and graduate (S2) programs on Tuesday (23/01/2024).

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Padjajaran Bandung offers 8 Master's Programs: Public Administration, Business Administration, Anthropology, Sociology, Social Welfare Science, Public Policy, Political Science, and Government Science, while FISIP UIN Jakarta offers 2 Master's Programs: Sociology and Political Science.

In attendance at the collaboration exploration forum were Prof. Dr. R. Widya Setiabudi Sumadinata, M.T., M.Si, as the Dean, Prof. Ida Widianingsih, S.IP., M.A., Ph.D., as the Vice Dean for Learning, Student Affairs & Research, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Benny Alexandri, S.E., M.M., as the Vice Dean for Resources & Organization, and Structural Officers at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Padjajaran Bandung. From UIN Jakarta, the delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Dzuritayun Toyibah as the Dean of FISIP UIN Jakarta, and Dr. Cucu Nurhayati, the Vice Dean for General Administration, Dr. Joharotul Jamilah, the Head of Sociology Department, Dr. Suryani, the Head of Political Science Department, and Ahmad Abrori, Ph.D., a lecturer at FISIP UIN Jakarta.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Widya congratulated FISIP UIN Jakarta on obtaining the Decree of Authorization for the Master's Programs at FISIP UIN Jakarta and expressed the hope for collaboration in various aspects. One of the elaborated collaboration ideas is the proposal for opening a double degree program for undergraduate (S1) and graduate (S2) students. Prof. Widya, as the Dean of FISIP UNPAD, supported by Prof. Ida Widianingsih, the Vice Dean 1, stated that FISIP UIN Jakarta has distinction in the study of Muslim society, which is credible not only nationally but also internationally.

On the other hand, Prof. Dzuriyatun Toyibah, as the Dean of FISIP UIN Jakarta, highlighted UNPAD's excellent reputation for both undergraduate (S1) and graduate (S2) programs, emphasizing its significant value in social and political studies. The respective strengths of each party are expected to enhance the quality of education and research. Regarding the opening of the Sociology and Political Science Master's Programs at FISIP UIN Jakarta, there are many aspects in which UNPAD can offer valuable experience for UIN Jakarta to learn from. Thus, the implementation of a double degree program is a step towards improving the quality of education at FISIP UIN Jakarta.

During intensive discussions, the focus was on planning steps to produce Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), Memorandums of Agreement (MoUs), or Technical Agreements (TAs), and various agreements such as the curriculum to be used, the number of courses and credit hours, diploma formats, and activity plans to support the implementation of the double degree program in the near future.
