Award for Prof. Dr. Saiful Mujani, MA
Professor of Political Science, FISIP, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Saiful Mujani, MA received the Lijpart/Pzreworski/Verba Award from the American Political Science Association (APSA). This award from the United States Political Science Association is the second award. Previously, in 2010, Saiful Mujani was awarded the prestigious Franklin L. Burdette/Pi Sigma Alpha Award from the American Political Science Association (APSA), making him the first political scientist from outside America to receive this prestigious award. With this award, Saiful is on par with international political experts such as Samuel Huntington, Sidney Tarrow, Michael Wallerstein, and Mancur Olson.
Saiful Mujani, who received a Master of Arts degree in (1998) and a Doctor of Philosophy (2003) at Ohio State University in the field of political science, often receives awards for his works. His dissertation entitled "Religious Democrats: Democratic Culture and Muslim Political Participation in Post-Suharto Indonesia" became the best dissertation at Ohio State University in 2004. Also for his service in the intellectual world, Saiful was awarded the Achmad Bakrie Award (2017) in the field of social thought.
Among Saiful Mujani's intellectual works in book form, both written with colleagues and alone, and published at home and abroad, are Voting Behavior in Indonesia since Democratization (Cambridge University Press, 2018), Piety and Public Opinion. Understanding Political Islam in Indonesia (Oxford University Press, 2018), Power of the People: Analysis of Voting Behavior in Post-New Order Indonesian Legislative and Presidential Elections , (Mizan, 2012), and Muslim Democrats: Islam, Democratic Culture, and Political Participation in Post-New Order Indonesia (Gramedia Pustaka Utama, 2007). Apart from being in book form, Saiful's articles are spread across various journals, both national and international, such as the American Journal of Political Science , Journal of Democracy , and Comparative Political Studies .
