Achievements in the Midst of a Pandemic
Achievements in the Midst of a Pandemic

Hello everyone, let me introduce myself Rd. Dadan Muhamad Ramdan, who is familiarly called Raden, and I are from the sociology study program, FISIP UIN Jakarta. I am one of the active students and coincidentally I am currently in my 2nd semester in the study program I am taking. It started with my participation in an organization outside campus, namely AIESEC at UIN Jakarta. There I organized like a member in general. One day, I had the opportunity to take part in a campaign creation competition. However, on the other hand, there are several things that require me to take part in the campaign creation competition held by Palapa Lounge by AIESEC in Indonesia. My participation in this competition was based on the fact that I was interested in the competition. Then, the competition which was initiated by AIESEC in Indonesia lasted for 4 days. This event was held on 18 November 2020 – 21 November 2020. The event which included this competition has been around for many years, it seems like every year these events and competitions are always held and attended by Local Committees (LC) from various AIESECs in Indonesia, one example is AIESEC at UIN Jakarta.

Then, to create the campaign, I was placed in group 18 out of 20 groups which consisted of various active students in Indonesia. There I made new friends and also new experiences. I learned how to interact and collaborate with other people who actually have different backgrounds. This group of 18 has the spirit to carry the theme "Equality For All" be human be equal, we took this theme from SDG's (Suistanable Development Goals) number 5 which tells about gender equality. We are interested in carrying out this theme because we see that people in Indonesia still do not understand gender equality. In fact, in general gender equality is not just mutual respect for each other. However, understand and understand that gender equality is not only owned by women but men also have the same equality. However, people in Indonesia still have a strong attitude of primordialism and pluralism, because Indonesia is an archipelagic country that has various ethnicities and tribes who have norms and beliefs that they believe in. This makes this campaign quite challenging and worth studying further. This campaign contains and invites that young people have an active role in informative education and always try to see developments in the times in a better direction. The competition process was very fun and also challenging because on the second day we received information that the campaign we were carrying was in the top 5 and we were very proud of that.

The day has arrived to determine the winner of the national campaign. The jury who assessed our campaign was quite under pressure because the three judges had their own specifications. Not waiting long, the announcement arrived and we got the exciting news, the news stated that our group won first place in creating a National campaign created by Palapa Lounge by AIESEC in Indonesia. We are sure that this campaign was created and not realized from existing phenomena. However, our awareness as humans who also feel the same way, we have a tagline, namely Be Human, Be Equal, which means stop violence against women, stop violence against men. We are the same and understand the existing boundaries.

From this exciting and challenging experience, I realized that in the midst of a pandemic it does not require me to postpone my achievements. However, achievements can be done anywhere and at any time. The pandemic is not an obstacle to being able to achieve and we must make ourselves develop in a better direction.
